The body and our experiences

During one of my explorations, chatgpt pointed me toward something I thought was quite striking. The body is an instrument that is shaping our experience. It is not only an instrument that helps us move in our journey, but it directly influencing the experience itself.

One of the dominant meaning modern society gives to the body is that it is for movement. When we think of training the body the first association is fitness and gym. Movement is a crucial part for me, it gives us more options to explore, and expands our exploration time. It’s nice to be able to move freely when I am old.

I have the hunch that exploring how the body shapes our experiences can be as important as exploring movement. For example, posture affects our mood. Many studies have researched and found out that a slumped posture affects moods negatively. When I slump or hunch forward, I notice that I experience the world more sad. When I stand grounded and with my head neutral, I feel more open and sturdy.

How I look also affects my experience. When I focus my vision on a person or an object, the moment feels alive.

One of the biggest change in my experience is whenever I feel unsure about something, and I connect with my spine, keeping it upright, I feel the insecurity changing to me being more firm. The change of this is very immense. It makes a world of difference.

It is a beautiful mystery of how the body shapes experience itself. And it’s amazing that it is available to us to explore.
